Please share a memory of Samuel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Samuel Quinlan of Lewisporte, NL, shares the news of his sudden passing on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Sam was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Quinlan (Spurrell) and his father Allan Quinlan; his mother and father-in-law, Hannah (Fudge) and Ward Wells: stepmother-in-law Dorothy (Edwards) Wells, his brothers, Dexter Quinlan and Ford Quinlan; brothers-in-law ,Harvey Wells, Cecil Clarke, George Wells, Bert Squires, and Jim Wells; and sister-in-law, Marie Squires. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 56 years, Muriel Quinlan (Wells); his beloved children, Paula, Pamela (Scott), and David (Kim); his cherished grandchildren, James (Chantel), Samantha, Daniel, Fayth, and Paige; and his precious great-granddaughter, Evie. He is also mourned by his seven sisters, two brothers, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Born Arthur Samuel David Quinlan in Birchy Bay on November 25, 1944, Sam embarked on his life’s adventure in 1965 when he moved to Toronto. It was there that he met and fell in love with Muriel, the love of his life, and together they built a beautiful family. He graduated from George Brown College and pursued a successful career at Vanfax. A true warrior, Sam demonstrated immense strength and resilience, overcoming a life-changing injury in 1970. Despite his struggles, he remained positive and full of joy, always ready with a joke, a tease, or a playful moment. He was the embodiment of a family man—his love was sacrificial and unwavering, and he always "showed up" for those he loved. Sam lived by the values of integrity, strength, faith and devotion to his family. He was a man who could always be counted on, whether for support, guidance, or a helping hand. Though our hearts grieve, we take comfort in knowing that our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather is now at peace with the Lord, free from pain. His love and the many cherished memories he left behind will remain a source of strength and comfort to us all. Visitation will take place from Families funeral home on Monday March 31st from 7-9 P.M. The funeral service will take place from the Philadelphia Pentecostal Church in Lewisporte on Tuesday at 2.P.M. with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
