Colin Hiscock posted a condolence

We first met Scott and Hazel when we moved to Embree in 1999. They showed up at our door one day with a meal of scallop potatoes, ham and broccoli casserole and desert. We were so thankful because we were new in town and we really didn’t have much to eat as our kitchen wasn’t finished. They were just so kind and considerate. I had an old chainsaw and one day down comes Scott with a brand new Jonsared 2145 that I still have to this day. They looked after our children for us to go to choir practice and anytime we needed a break. They just loved taking our children and always were so giving and kind.
When Trudy and I got home from Florida in early April we went to Gander to see Scott. He was under medication, but after a few minutes he called out “Colin”. I bent down and told him I was there. He said “where’s Trudy?” I said she’s right here. She bent close and he kissed her and said “you’re beautiful “ and the next few moments the three of us had ample tears flowing down our face…and we said goodbye on this side of eternity. We won’t wish him back, but he will be missed.

Hazel was my mother’s sister, and Scott and Hazel were much loved members of the Taylor and Elliott families.
For me, visiting and staying with them in Embree was like going home, with lots of love and laughter.
Scott was kind and caring, with a great sense of humour, and as solid and genuine as you could find. I will miss him.
Because of recent eye surgery, I’m unable to drive from St. John’s today, but our thoughts are with Scott and everyone he loved (and loved him) - Wayne and the Rowsell family, Cheri and Gwen and their families, and Scott’s friends.

Uncle Scott you are one of the best. You touched the lives of all who knew you and you will be deeply missed. I know you’re happy to be reunited with Aunt Hazel. You don’t have to wait any longer. Condolences to all the family at this sad time.

Uncle Scott, you were always there. I don't remember a time in my life when you weren't. When I was a little girl you were just across the yard from us and as we grew older, moved away, you were our constant when we came home. We never missed a visit with you and Aunt Hazel.
Our phone calls on those special occasions were something we both looked forward to. You never failed to ask about my children and grandchildren.
You had a smile that could light up a room and we are going to miss you so much.

I don’t know why I’m still here,he was tired here and wanted to go to Heaven. Our deepest condolences to family .

Uncle Scott was a kind, gentle man. I fondly remember our visits to Embree many years ago - he was sure to have a smile and a story to share when we stopped by. My thought and prayers are with all the family at this time.

On a recent trip back home to Embree I went up to the home to visit uncle Scott. What an amazing visit it was. His memory was impeccable. We talked and talked while time slipped away. He filled some of the gaps in my family tree for me that I had long searched for. I am so glad I got to spend time with him.
His gentle demeanor always defined him to me. He had a ready smile and a giving heart. He will be missed by so many.
Rest in peace Uncle Scott and enjoy your well deserved reward.
Terry.

Wow - Mr. Rowsell!!! This was one of the nicest men who came into my life at the age of about 13. He drove me to and from school every day after that and was such a patient, kind man. When my mom passed away, he and his wife - Mrs. Rowsell were the first to give me a birthday gift that year. He certainly will have a huge, well deserved reward in the great beyond!!! Go with God!!

Sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. Scott and Hazel provided me with my first public appearance as ring bearer at their wedding. Sorry I didn’t do so well as I dropped the rings at the altar! Obviously they forgave me as he drove Cathy and I in his big fancy car for our wedding.

Scott was my bus driver when I was just a young girl living on Elizabeth Street…. The one thing I will always remember about him is the fact that he had a permanent smile on his face…to me he looks the same in that picture as he did over 50 years ago driving the bus… sure hope you are at peace now and surrounded by family and friends… thank you for being a part of my childhood

Many childhood memories of Uncle Scott but it will never forget his lovely smile and hug. He never stopped being interested in the lives of his neices and nephews.
