Her Lord has called to carry our mom home. She has gone to be with our father, Willie Leyte, our stepfather, Garland Miles and other beloved members of her family.
She was born on July 4th, 1932. Mom was named Dorothy Violet Brown, but she acquired many names over the years…mom, nan, Dotty, Violet and friend. Dorothy leaves behind her children Rowena, Maxine (Don), Marlene, Larry (Gloria), Grace (Glen) and Merv (Wendy).
Dorothy was blessed with 15 grandchildren, Crystal, Kenny, Willie, Colette (Dave), Tonya (Matt), Jeremy, Jamie (Megha), Justin , Michael, Kelsey (Ross), Jeff (Melissa), Josh (Maddie), Stephanie, Robbie (Cora Lee), and Bethany ; her great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Racheal, Shawn, Crewson, Brayden, Lucas, Alexis, Isla, Aurora, Willie, Tommy and Poppy; and many other family members and friends.
She worked hard during her time here and enjoyed her retirement in Newfoundland. She loved to garden, quilt and knit. She spent many hours quilting blankets and knitting for family, friends, and hospices. She was known to give most of everything she made to others. We will always remember her bright smile and her kindness shone through with everything she did for others. She was loved by us all and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will take place at Families Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. .and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Gospel Hall in Main Point on Wednesday, May 28th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Gospel Hall Cemetery.
