Obituary of Rowena Marie Kendall ( Fiander)

“To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die” Thomas Campbell 1777-1844 It is with deep sadness that we announce Rowena passed peacefully away at the Heath Science Centre in St. John’s, NL in the presence of her family on June 11, 2025. Predeceased by her husband Leonard, son Philip Craig, parents Mary and Samuel, along with her siblings Janet, Samuel Jr., Thelma and Philip; parents-in-law Gordon and Vivian and sister-in-law Bernice. Leaving to mourn are her sons Perry (Cecilia) and Jeff (Colleen); grandchildren Sydney (Daniel), Julie, Jodie and Stephan; great- grandchildren Sullivan and Harrison. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Rita Marlene, sister-in-law Yvonne (John). As well as her many nieces, nephews other relatives; special friends Phyllis of Lewisporte and her many friends (especially Mary) at Heritage Square in Conception Bay South. Though small in stature, Rowena was LARGE in spirit! She was always quick with a laugh and a kind word, strongly dedicated to her family, friends and Church. A special thank you to the staff of the Emergency Department and 5 North B of the Health Science Centre who showed great professionalism, care and compassion to Rowena and family in her final hours. To the staff and residents of Heritage Square, Conception Bay South, thank you for your support, kindness and friendship to Rowena over the last four and half years and for making her a welcome and valued member of your little community. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 20th, 2025 at Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte from 7-9 pm. A service will be held on June 21st at 11 am from St. Paul's Anglican Church in Lewisporte with interment to follow at St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Paul's Church building fund.
