It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the sudden passing of Mildred Reid on the morning of June 15th, 2025 at James Paton Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 years. Mildred was born on December 1st 1949 on Change Islands. She was predeceased by her beloved son Robert, parents; Eliza and George Bursey, sisters; Edna Porter, Ruby Rideout and Phyllis Coish, nephew; David Coish, brothers-in-law; James Porter, Mort Rideout, Harold Coish, Harold Reid and friend Jack Hynes. Left to mourn are her devoted husband and best friend, Delmon Reid, children; Pamela (Deon Mesh) Steve (Stacey) and Susan. Her precious grandchildren who will miss her dearly; Robert, Emma, Tori, Seth, Amelia and a large circle of family and friends who will miss her presence daily. Mildred was a master of all things. She spent her life as a devoted mother, wife and business owner. She was a musician of many instruments, the most fantastic cook, a friend to all, a world traveler, but most of all she was the pillar of the Reid family. Mildred was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church where you would often find her sharing music with Delmon and Pamela. Her Grandchildren were the light of her life. We would like to thank the staff at the Lewisporte After Hours Clinic for their swift actions, as well as the paramedics and staff at James Paton Memorial Hospital. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025 at Families Funeral Home from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 19th at 2 pm from St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Lewisporte with interment to follow at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery Fund.
