Edith Bernice Tetford Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Edith “Bernice” Tetford at North Haven Manor in Lewisporte on April 30, 2026 at the age of 85 years.


Bernice was born on February 16,1941 in Birchy Bay. She married Bill Tetford of Laurenceton on November 24,1958 and together they raised five wonderful children.


In 1970 she moved to Stephenville where she started working in the fabric section of a clothing store. She went on to work at Canadian Tire and was the office manager there until her retirement after which she moved back to Lewisporte.


Sewing was her passion and she made many dresses and coats for her girls and passed this passion on to her eldest daughter. Bernice attended and supported her church her entire life.


She led a very active life and enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing, quading, and skidooing where she spent many overnight trips at the cabin or going for boil ups. She spent many years travelling in Canada and the USA and thoroughly enjoyed many years camping with family and friends.


Left to cherish her many memories are her daughters Sharon (Roger), Cindy (Larry), Joy and her son Chad (Jody). She will be forever remembered by her eight grandchildren Cynthia, Stacy, Stephanie, Travis, Myles, Audrey, Matthew and Rebecca as well as nine precious great grandchildren.


She will be deeply missed by her siblings Edward (Elizabeth), David (Starlene), Betty, Marilyn, Eileen (Doug), Evelyn (Lou), Marie (Gord), Marina (John) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Bernice was predeceased by her loving husband Bill; her parents Wilson and Bessie Etsell, daughter Roxanne, brother Frank, sister Vera Snow, and brothers-in-law; Ralph Hutchings, Bob Smith and Earl Tetford.


Resting at Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte with visitation on Saturday from 2-4pm. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 3rd from Philadelphia Pentecostal Tabernacle in Lewisporte at 2pm with internment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Lewisporte.


Donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
