William Baker Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of William Baker of Little Burnt Bay with his family by his side at the Gander Long Term Care Home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the age of 91 years.


William was born in Brown’s Arm to the late Levi and Daisy Baker on June 17th, 1934. He met and married the love of his life, Marjorie Joyce Rimmer in 1955 and they were married for 69 years.


He enjoyed the great outdoors with his love for camping and building moose characters for his garden and using his log splitter. He supported his family by working in the lumber woods and fish plant. He also loved hunting with family and friends.


William had a great love for animals and his beloved family pets. Whenever anyone visited Will he always had a good story to tell while enjoying a cup of tea. One of William’s great sayings was that he loved his children all the same.


Along with his parents, William was also predeceased by his wife Marjorie Joyce; son Kenneth, daughter Caroline Scott as well as his three brothers Jack, Howard, Clyde, his stepbrother Cyril and his sister Doris Clarke.


Leaving to cherish his many memories are his children Marjorie (George) Dawe, Carl (Anna), Wilfred (Herma), Valerie (Baxter) Nippard, Kimberly (Maurice) Nippard and Melissa; his brother Larry Baker, daughter- in -law Mabel, sisters-in-law Verna Baker, Sadie Rimmer and his son -in- law Randy Scott.


He will be forever loved and remembered by his 17 grandchildren, 34 great -grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends.


Resting at Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte with family visitation on Thursday May 21st, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm and public visitation 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will take place from the Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle in Little Burnt Bay on Friday at 2 pm with interment to follow at the Community Cemetery in Little Burnt Bay.


Donations in his memory may be made to the Church Building Fund.
