Obituary of Irene Alice Hodder

Please share a memory of Irene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Irene Alice Hodder (nee Tulk) announce her passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre in Botwood, NL on August 14th, 2021 at the age of 86. Irene was a faithful member of the Stoneville Pentecostal Church all of her life. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Hodder, parents Olive and Kenneth Tulk, her daughter-in-law Wanda Hodder, her brother’s Selby, Gordon, Lovelace, and sister’s Cecila and Lucy, brother-in-law Guy, mother and father-in-law Jessie and Olindo Hodder. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children Eric, Terry (Patricia), Sharon (Lorin), Wallace (Evelyn), Clayton (Priscilla), Floyd (Belinda), Ewen, Carson (Michelle). Also left to remember her are 18 grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Sisters, 7 brothers and a large extended family. Irene married the love of her life Ken on August 28th, 1958 and together they had 8 children. With Ken away and working in the woods for months on end, Irene worked hard to make sure the children were well looked after. There was always a loaf of fresh homemade bread on the counter, not an easy task with 7 growing boys to tend to. She loved to laugh until she cried, which was often brought on by her children. Irene loved the outdoors, she enjoyed spending time in the woods catching rabbits with her good friend Lorraine. Countless hours were spent in the back country of Millertown with their dear friends Oswald and Lorraine. She loved to knit and read her Bible, a Godly woman who most of all loved the Lord. Resting at the Pentecostal Church in Stoneville with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 19th at 2PM with interment to follow at the Stoneville Pentecostal Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre, North Haven Manor in Lewisporte, her Personal Support workers and the Family First Funeral Home for all the support and care shown to our Mother. Flowers accepted or donations to Stoneville Pentecostal Cemetery can be made in memory of mom.
