Obituary of Marshall N. Porter

Marshall Neville Porter was born on January 3, 1939 at Porterville and lived there his entire life. Marshall began his passion for trapping at the early age of 7, and continued until he was 80. Marshall enjoyed a working career as a labourer, logger and owned his own dump truck for about 15 years. Marshall married his lifetime partner and best friend, Doris nee. Tetford, on October 11, 1956. Together they did everything as a team, along with their dog, including fox farming, trapping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. Marshall also loved spending time with his family. Marshall passed peacefully away, surrounded by his family, on January 23, 2022 at Lakeside Homes, Gander at the age of 83. Marshall is predeceased by his wife Doris; parents Norman and Dulcie Porter; brothers Arthur, Roy, Nelson and Alec; sister-in-laws Lillian, Ella, Sadie and Irene; brother-in-laws Gus and Edward. Leaving to mourn and cherish his memory are his children Truman (Jean), Marie (Dean), Karen (Barry); grandchildren Chad (Simone), Carlie, Danica (John) along with his pride and joys Austin, Noah, Ryver, Ryker, and “Jimmie”; brothers John and Hubert (Pansy); sisters Hilda, Margaret (Harold), and Marina; sister-in-law Phyllis as well as his extended family, Brown’s Arm church family and a large circle of friends. The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff of White’s Family Care Residence, James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre and Lakeside Homes as well as Maranatha Pentecostal Tabernacle and Families Funeral Home. Resting at Maranatha Pentecostal Tabernacle in Brown's Arm on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm (following government regulation), with funeral service taking place on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 2pm by invitation only. Interment will follow at the United Cemetery in Porterville. As expressions of sympathy flowers are accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Society. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte.
