Celebration of life service will be held on Monday, June 17th, 2023 at 11 am from Families Funeral Home. Refreshments will follow the service with interment to take place at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Lewisporte. Gordon Chesley Hodder of Lewisporte passed peacefully away at North Haven Manor on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the age of 94 years. Gordon cherished every day of his life and lived it to the fullest with deep faith in God. He loved the great outdoors; Hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and years of camping. He was a very intelligent man who mastered whatever he put his hands too. He was a great storyteller as well. He learned to play the guitar at an early age and music was an important part of his life and he enjoyed sharing his music and voice at Pleasant View Manor with his dear friend Dena. Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife Mary of 73 years; his parents Steven and Elsie Hodder; brothers Leonard (Mable), Don (Bessie) and Roland along with his sisters Eva (Frank) Martin, Cealie (Sidney) Hayward and Mary. son in law Rex Headland, sister-in-law Florence (Bob) Freake and Violet Combden. Left to cherish his memory are his children Betty Headland, Bernice (Jeff) Gillingham, Roger (Brenda) Hodder. Grandchildren: Deanne (Craig) Headland, Stephen (Maury) Wolverton, Jeffery (Renee) Gillingham, Jamie (Ashley) Gillingham, Amy (Rob) Winacott, Jason (Cassandra) Hodder, Colleen (Bryson) Williams, Nancy (Gerald) Langlois; 20 great children and 5 great-great grandchildren. Also, a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Special thanks to all the staff at Pleasantview Manor that made a happy home for him and mom. Also, a special thank to the staff of North Haven Manor for all your love and care. Our memories of this kind, gentle, loving man will stay with us for ever. Rest in peace. We love you. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
