Obituary of Marion Yvonne J. Layte

Passed peacefully away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Lewisporte Health Centre, at the age of 78 years. Marion Yvonne Judith Layte was born April 22, 1944 in Horwood to the late Walter and Violet Wells. Horwood remained her home until she met the love of her life Pearce. They Married on July 30, 1964 and resided in Birchy Bay and together raised their six children. Marion was a child of Christ first, loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a devoted Christian and taught her children the love of Christ first and foremost. She was a mentor in her walk with Christ for many people. She was sought out by family, friends and fellow Christians for her prayers. She was often referred to as a prayer warrior and loved to encourage those who sought to learn the love of Christ. Marion was predeceased by her husband Pearce. Leaving to cherish her memory are her children: Joyce (Wayne), Eugene (Christine), Kimberley (Glen), Violet, David (Denise), Melvina (Dean); grandchildren: Jennifer (Derek), Jeremy, Ashley (Steve), Andrew, Crystal, Katie (Jesse), Joey (Kaitlyn), Viki (Austin), Danita (Bradley), Rebecca (Shawn), Samantha (Tristan), Danielle, Delores, Sabrina (Ryan); great-grandchildren: Jessica, Pearce, Leah, Rosie, Brogan, Grace, Jack, Alina, Tommy, Kinsley, Benjamin and Carson. As well her siblings, Melvina Necho, Winnifred Hutchings, Verbena Loder, Catherine Wells, Linda (Austin) Park, Carol (Eugene) Quinlan, Kelsey Wells and sister-in-law Ruth Layte along with other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her parents-in-law Edgar and Alice Layte, her sister Lucy Loder; Brothers-in law, Archibald Necho, Gideon Edwards, Melvin Loder, Harvey Loder, Obadiah Layte, William Layte, and Derrick Park; her niece Marina Stuckey and nephews, Wallace Tulk, Bramwell Necho and Danny Layte. Resting at Families Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and Thursday, from 2-4pm. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 10th, 2023 from the salvation Army Church in Birchy Bay at 1pm. Interment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Birchy Bay. Flowers accepted or donations may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund in Birchy Bay.
