Obituary of Junior Don Fillier
Please share a memory of Junior to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Junior Don Fillier-passed away peacefully at the age of 69 surrounded by loved ones and family. Don was born September 13, 1953 in the small town of Englee Newfoundland. He was the 6th of 9 children born to Clancy and Ethel Fillier.
Until retirement Don was a talented carpenter and worked on many projects throughout his lifetime, from building homes to fixing light switches. There was no task too big or small, Don could do them all!
He enjoyed Newfoundland music and often played his accordion for others to enjoy. He liked to research conspiracies on the internet and then post the findings to his Facebook page. He often joked he was writing a book. He was a very private man but took pride in providing for others. Don was always there to lend someone a helping hand. He was the most reliable, dependable person you would ever meet, and often sacrificed his own needs to make others happy.
He met the love of his life Ruth, in July 1999 in Lewisporte Newfoundland, the two have been inseparable ever since. They enjoyed going for drives around the bay exploring the little towns of Newfoundland, or just sitting together enjoying each others company.
Don was the best stepfather! He went above and beyond for Ruth’s kids and loved them as his own. He would video chat his great grandson talking about the grossest things making Caine belly laugh!
Don loved his siblings. He often talked about the projects he completed with his brothers. He was extremely proud of the work they did and would point out the homes whenever he drove by them.
A special thanks goes out to all the nurses at the Health Sciences Centre and Lewisporte Health Centre over the last couple months who cried with us, laughed with us, and helped us through this difficult time. You are all appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. We wouldn’t have made it through this without you!

Don was predeceased by his son Tyson, and his father Clancy. Visitation for family and friends will take place from Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte on Sunday from 2-4pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14th from the Pentecostal Church in Englee at 11am. Interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery.
