Retttie and I grew up together in the same neighborhood and as children spent a lot of time together. I have great memories of skating on the Bay out to the old Britain and back (she was a really good skater) and her older brother, Dave, had a small set of sleds which he would hook up to his big German Shepherd dog and tow us all around the garden in the winter. We always had a huge bonfire in the upper garden on Bonfire Night and pulled out boughs for weeks getting ready for it.. I would only see her occasionally throughout the years after we grew up, but we always stopped for a chat and caught up.
