Obituary of Sheila I. Nippard

With great sadness, the family of Sheila Irene Nippard (Nee Kinden) announce her passing on the 4th of October, 2024. The loss of Sheila is a horrible blow to all who knew her, the world is left with just a bit less colour and love for us all. Sheila was born to Garfield and Dorothy Kinden in Stag Harbour on 21st day of September, 1957. She had many wonderful memories of growing up there with so much family “in the garden”; she had an idyllic childhood to be sure. Although it must be said that her favorite memory was when the family left Fogo, her mother gave her the “pot” to throw over the Wharf to be rid of it once and for all. She was well pleased with that! Life in Lewisporte was everything she hoped it would be, mostly because they still had family all over Pine Avenue. Her wonderful memories of growing up there are too many to recount here, but we will all remember them and look back at them fondly for as long as we can. Sheila met the love of her life there in Lewisporte, a rough-and-tumble boy from Embree by the name of Clyde Nippard. Her sights were set, and with the help of her friend Liz and their desire to each bag one of the Nippard crew, they set out to meet up at a wrestling match. Needless to say, they both got what they wanted, and life bloomed accordingly with children, love and marriage. Sheila became a primary teacher. Nothing she could have ever done would be as good a fit for someone such as her. She cherished every child she taught. She loved them all, she cared for them all, she gloried in their successes and remembered them until the end. The number of times she recognized a student in passing, or a student recognized her - even decades later - was uncountable, and she blossomed with joy while sharing those encounters with us. At school, she made lifelong friends. She enjoyed their company at the Brittany Inns for lunch every now and then. They brought her so much joy in her later years - it’s impossible to describe how much we appreciate them. We’ll never thank you enough (as we call you all) Retiree Mafia!! In her retirement, Sheila found quite of bit of joy showing people love through handmade cards and crafts. We all loved to see her works, and our joy and appreciation of them just filled her heart. We were all so proud of the things she created, not only because of the quality of the pieces, but because of the obvious love they were made with. Sheila was quiet, she was mild, she was reserved, but she lived to show love, to be loved and to spread love, in any way she could. We should all be as wise as Sheila in this regard. If we could, the whole world would be a kinder, gentler, more loving place. We want to take the opportunity to twist the words of the Terry Kelly song “In My Father's House” although they ring true for both Clyde and Sheila, she’s reinforced this since the tragic passing of Clyde three years ago. In my MOTHER’S house There was sanctuary And when it would rain in the world Love would keep us dry When it rained it poured Love was our umbrella In my MOTHER’S house Sheila leaves to mourn her passing her children; Crystal (Doug), Lee (Michelle) and Devin, her Siblings; Larry (Allison), Boyce, Valerie (Byron), Randy; Grandchildren Brandon (Jennifer), Miranda (Robert), and Alec; great grandchildren Genevieve, Bridgette, McKenzie, and Harrison, as well as her brothers-in-law Freeman(Judy) and Sidney (Bonnie); sisters-in-law Goldie, Effie (Wince), Amanda (Claude) as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, friends and Nippards from all down the lane. Sheila was predeceased by her beloved husband Clyde, her mother and father Dorothy and Garfield, her mother- and father-in-law Lillian and Sidney Nippard Sr., her brother-in-law Cecil, and sister-in-law Wavey Keats. Visitation will be held at the Families Funeral home in Lewisporte form 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm on Sunday October 6th, 2024 followed by a funeral service from Families Funeral Home 11am on Monday October 7th, 2024. Anyone attending the service please wear a item in red. Burial will be held at the United Church Cemetery in Lewisporte at a later date.
