So sorry to hear of Fords passing. He was such a good man & always had a smile. Ford was the "best" boat operator around the cliffs of Surgeon's Cove Head Lighthouse (Exploit's Island). While I worked at the lighthouse, we hired Ford a hundred times for our monthly shift changeovers. Regardless of the winds, the tides or how big of a sea was on, Ford was the best at getting 2 Lightkeepers ON and 2 Lightkeepers OFF those slippery wet rocks,safely. I remember Dec. 21 1995, no CCG. chopper available so we got Ford to pick Arch & me off those cliffs under the Lighthouse. A Big sea on & cold and icy. It took almost an hour to complete the change but dear old Ford got us home for Christmas! I'll never forget that one. RIP.

We were shocked to hear of Ford's passing. We're in St. John's and hadn't heard that he was sick. We have many pleasant memories from Exploits, especially the Thanksgiving dinners we enjoyed together, and we hope memories like these will help you get through the difficult times ahead.
