Very surprised when we heard of Ed's sudden passing. Knew Him professionally and also as a friend. We did an off- campus course at grand Falls and had many laughs as we car-pooled. We both enjoyed and laughed at calling each other Edward, when He became aware of my second name. Whenever, wherever we met Ed, He always glowed with that meek, full-faced smile. Please accept our very sincere sympathy and thoughts to ALL of You. Kindest regards. Walter & Ivy Dawe

Oh so many fond memories, dating back to 1968. He and me "working out" (Charles Atlas course) in the basement of the school apartments, trying to have a nap in his 1970 Maverick in Bay d'Espoir, fishing for landlocked salmon..... Then, of course, he was my boss for many years and couldn't have wished for better. I'm out of town now so haven't been able to visit at the funeral home but rest assured that my thoughts and prayers haven't strayed far from you folks since I heard the news. Truly Ed was a man among men. I wonder, when we meet in heaven will he still call me Rodriquos. One thing is sure, if I ask how he's doing he'll respond as always with "how could it get any better than this!" You all are in our thoughts and prayers today.

To the Sheppard Family,
So sad to hear of your loss. We have many fond memories of Ed’s positive outlook on life. Ed was so accepting of everyone he encountered. He always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. You felt better simply by being in his presence. I recall with fondness how he mentored me in my first years teaching at Ralph Laite.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this very difficult time.

To Jean & Family: Shocked and saddened to hear of Ed's passing. A friend and esteemed colleague for many years Some
outstanding memories I have of him'
.1. Passing along by the old school in Botwood, stretching his neck trying to see Jean during night school preparing for
Public exams in June of 1963 (we both got a chuckle out of that many times afterwards).
2. That same June, he invited me to address his elementary students at school closing in Peterview. And he was very lavish
in his 'unfeigned' praise and commendation of my exhortation to the students to continue to read much during the summer from
the text "...how readest thou ...?" ( how do you read)? Luke 10:24-26 KJV.
3. The many conversations (humorous and serious) we had at teachers'/principals conventions and meetings.
4. The various encounters we had at the mall and elsewhere with him, George Tiller, and other colleagues after retirement and he would say, "There's enough of us here now to have a PTF meeting:"
I have always admired his intellect, intelligence, and spiritual insight. A husband, father, grandfasther, sibling, and friend to be proud of.Be assured of our thoughts and prayers until we join him in the presence of Jesus, the Good Master (Teacher) of all ages.

Dear Jean and all the family and extended family:
I just received this news today and my heart goes out to all of you. Edward always had such a contagious smile and seemed so happy and cheerful. I remember having to do some fill in substitute teaching for him while we were the Pastors at Philadelphia Pentecostal church because he had been in a car accident I believe. I was also expecting our son Timothy at the time, so it was a challenge. Now they are all rejoicing in heaven and with so much going on in this world today, I am sure they would never trade places with any of us. It is not going to be much longer before we will all be reunited again but the loss is very keen while here on earth. We miss their presence and voice and smile and that will always be there. I sure do know from keen experience myself, so we pray for God's strength for all of you at this time.
Love and Prayers,
Fern Bath, Kingston, Ontario

We were shocked to hear of Edward's passing. I (Sandra) have many memories of him from going to school together in Joe Batt's Arm. He boarded with my parents while taking Grade Eleven.
We sat around the kitchen table each night doing our homework. Many times Joy as we called him then would break the silence and say something funny that would make us all laugh.I never once saw him upset. He always wore a broad smile that would light up any room and he had an amazing sense of humour. I know you will miss him dearly but take comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord Whom he loved and served for many years.
Love and Prayers

To Jean and Family;
We were both so shocked and saddened to learn of Ed's passing. You have our heartfelt sympathy at this time of grief. Clyde and I have some very fond memories of times we shared with you and Ed. Ed had such a pleasing personality with much wit and charm. His broad smile made his face shine. Working with Ed, as my principal, at Ralph Laite Collegiate was a pleasure. Of all the years I have known him, I have never seen him mad or disgruntled. It was a common thing to say Good Morning to him and if I asked him how he was doing, his answer would always be "Great! If it were any better than this, I would be in heaven." So now he is in the presence of the One he served.
We know there is little that we can say to console you but please know our thoughts and prayers are with you Jean, Derek, Brad and Natalie, as you go through physically losing your husband and father. May God grace you and your family with peace and comfort now and in the days ahead.
