With great sadness that this happened to such a young man in his prime. I have fond memories of Luc at the stadium watching him grow as a player and young man. I played with him on our rec league team and some Xmas cup teams and he was always a good teammate and skilled player. After he graduated high school and made money of his own I was fortunate to socialize with him while I lived in lewisporte and we went on many snowmobile trips around town in the back country and to mount Peyton. Always there to help out. He was a stand up guy and his loss has affected me deeply as a friend and for his family to have to experience such tragedy. He and his family are in my thoughts and I will never forget him. Lucas was a fine young man and a great friend. He will be sadly missed by myself and Taylor. We both thought very highly of him and I hope the best for his family throughout this difficult time. Chad and taylor

Rodney, Joan, the Downton & Porter families, and many friends, Please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences regarding Lucas's passing. I did not have the good fortune of knowing Lucas, mainly to difference in age and distance away from home. But knowing both of you, Lucas's grandparents, other loved ones and friends, and being a parent myself-- it was impossible to hold back emotion for your sudden and tragic loss. I apologize I could not be there in person to offer you my condolences, to give you both a hug, and to pay my respects. People close to me speak very highly of Lucas, saying he was a young respectful man who was nice to people, and no doubt he held many other fine qualities. This is a wonderful reflection and compliment to his parents. Until one walks in a persons shoes, one cannot fathom their suffering, loss, and hurt. My words are no different. Joan & Rodney. So sorry to hear such a tragedy of your son Lucas. I can't image what you are going through but know your friends and family can help to comfort you even when you feel so empty. I didn't know him well but the few times I did speak to him he was so polite and considerate. Whenever you see him, he always had a smile and said hello.
