John Henry Levi Hewitt passed peacefully away at the Brookfield Health Centre on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the age of 81 years. He leaves a lifetime of memories with his children Jerry (Jackie) Hewitt, Jacqueline (Jeff) Hill, Janice Burry, Jeffery Hewitt, Joy (Neil) Tyler and Judy (Dave) Segee; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his sister Mary Blake and his brother Edward Pike; sister-in-law Jessie Freake; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Jack was born on August 13, 1942 a son of the late Jessie and Malcolm Hewitt of Joe Batt’s Arm, Fogo Island. At the age of 21 he married the love of his life, Joyce Peckford and settled in Baytona and raised their six children. Jack worked very hard to provide for his family. He dearly loved the great outdoors where he worked all his life as a woodcutter and he enjoyed fishing. He cherished his time spent with his family and will be lovingly remembered for his huge heart and the joy he shared in giving to anyone in need. Jack was always willing to lend a hand. He will be dearly missed, forever loved, and fondly remembered by all who knew him. In addition to his parents Jack was predeceased by his wife Joyce, brother William; two grandsons Micheal Burry and Brent Tyler. Visitation will be held at Families Funeral Home on Friday from 2:30 to 4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service for family and friends will take place from Families Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Baytona. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made in his memory to the Baytona Cemetery Fund.
