When I was young I would watch in awe as Pop worked on his boats in the shed. To me he was the quintessential example of what a man should be. Tough and weathered from years of hard work and life's experiences, yet kind and soft enough to teach a young kid how to tie knots and how the rigging on those boats worked. I learned to cook because of Pop. His curry tingled my senses as a kid and opened my eyes to all the flavours of the world. He was a man who loved good food and it was my honour to be allowed to stand next to the stove and watch him cook. His tattoos and the stories that accompanied them will be forever etched in my memory. I lost my hero, but what he taught me will stay with me forever. Here's hoping they have CNN in heaven. God bless

How do you say goodbye to someone who you thought would live forever? Pop, you will always be in my heart. I was only one of many grandkids but even though the numbers keep growing you made us all feel special. Your infectious laugh is one I will never forget and of course the "mug ups" on the annual summer outing to Greenspond! Always loved and cherished, never, ever to be forgotten,my grandfather! RIP Roland Stratton. Love, Tammy and Enzo

Dorothy, you don't know me but I just finished reading your husband's obituary. I have known people to be married up to 50 years but have never known a couple to be married as long as you and your husband. I can't imagine how you must miss his presence each day, even if he was sick and you tried to prepare for his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family.
